“Celebration Bridge” is an energetic response to a personal experience in which movement was restricted. This work visualizes the release of energy in a spontaneous and harmonious organically engineered style that is unique and inviting. It bridges the range of emotions that are felt at times in your, my life that can only be describes as a freedom at least response. The lower part of the artwork is made of mahogany cut into a stair step pattern spread apart and facing each other with half rounds on each end acting like wheels. The concept of motion and fluidity is captured and maintained but not controlled.

This work is scalable and can be created as outdoor public art with different materials. I also think that this work would make a great fountain with water and or lights running through the tubin.

“Tower,” This sculpture is my first attempt to incorporate drawings into the work. I have drawn on the wood itself reflective of the intricate carvings and painted surfaces on many of the castles, palaces and monasteries I recently visited in Portugal and Spain.
Made of fiberglass rods, tubing, mahogany wood, “Tower is a combination of geometric shapes cut into the wood and built into a four-square multi-layered construction. Inside and escaping through open spaces are the flowing curves that balance artwork. Involved in the design is the concept of volume vs mass. The negative parts inform the positive. Stylistically unique, I refer to my artwork as organically engineered. Each piece is carefully created with both precision and spontaneity with a definite intention to bend and shape fiberglass, wood and metal to reference fluidity and motion. My love of the curvilinear form pushes the abstract lines and geometric shapes towards lyrical and visual references of musically notes and instruments to ocean waves, wind as in sails, flight, and winged creatures. My free standing and wall installations are harmonious in the way they gracefully flow like a beautiful dance and serenely become a part of the space. They do not scream with loud colors; but slowly envelop the environment in an organic and aesthetic way.

My work is scalable and can be suited of outdoor public places. I would invite you to visit my studio in Indianapolis to see more of my work. Thank you for consideration.

49 YEARS AFTER THE US SUPREME COURT RATIFIED ROE V WADE TO PROTECT WOMEN’S CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT TO CHOOSE WHAT WAS BEST FOR THEIR OWN BODIES, THIS RIGHT WAS REVOKED—HANDED NOT BACK TO WOMEN—BUT TO THE POLITICIANS OF THE STATES IN WHICH THEY RESIDE. CREATING THIS CANVAS WAS ONE OF MY GREATEST CHALLENGES. HOWEVER, I FELT THAT THE ISSUE OF ABORTION WAS TOO IMPORTANT TO STAY SILENT. I HOPE NOT TO OFFEND BUT RATHER TO CREATE THOUGHTFUL DISCUSSION ABOUT THIS ISSUE. NOT TO CHOOSE A SIDE BUT ONLY TO CONSIDER INDIVIDUAL CIRCUMSTANCES AND TO PROVIDE MORE SUPPORT AND LESS JUDGEMENT OF EACH OTHER AS WOMEN. UNTIL WE TAKE TIME TO LISTEN AND ACCOMPLISH UNDERSTANDING WE REMAIN DIVIDED.

The theme of this painting is summer. I wanted to create a painting that evoked joy when you looked at it, with lots of vibrant colors and ideas. I decided to focus on things that reminded me of summer because I felt like that would accomplish my goal of creating an overall joyful image. I decided on three major subjects that I thought of when thinking about summer. Flowers, swimming, and juicy fruit at a cookout. After establishing the subjects, I collaged them together in a way that had the ideas flowing together but still somewhat separate. The stain glass flowers blend into waves and the way I stylized the waves, made the flow into the texture of the kiwi seem natural.

I got the idea for this painting after dying Easter eggs with my dad. We were dropping food coloring into water and the immediate effect of the dye spreading was really intriguing and I knew that I wanted to paint this interaction. Most of the time when you are in a body of water, you are looking down from the top of the water but there are so many hidden depths and layers and beautiful things that I wanted to capture in this painting. I wanted the whole picture to be represented, not just what someone would usually be able to see. The rainbow that hits the water is what you would see if you did not see the whole picture. But on closer inspection, the colors of the rainbow leak into the water in an intriguing way, enticing some tropical fish with it’s beauty.

The great Sufi poet and scholar Rumi, originally from the area once called Great Khorasan, has become a worldwide symbol of peace, love, and equality. Before it was accepted, he brought music and joy into the religious institutions of his time, inspiring multitudes. Thousands of years later, his poetry continues to break barriers and bring light into dark places of the world. Rumi was born in 1207 in Afghanistan, sharing the same birth country as the artist.

“Come, come, whoever you are. Wanderer,
worshiper, lover of leaving. It doesn’t matter.
Ours is not a caravan of despair.
Come, even if you have broken your vows a thousand times.
Come, yet again, come, come.”
-Jalal al-Din Muhammad Rumi

This is an imagined piece by the artist expressing his hope for schools in Afghanistan to be reopened for both girls and boys, including his youngest sister who is trying to complete her education in Kabul. The Taliban regime has closed the doors of knowledge for all youth, especially girls, in an attempt for control. By keeping youth away from the world and from pursuits of education, they inflict a cruel oppression. Many remain determined to learn, and hold secret classes.

This scene, painted from the artist’s memory, shows Afghan women reading in his family’s bookstore in Kabul. It honors the resilience of these women, who are living under the dark oppression of the Taliban. They are standing up for their rights and freedoms, even when faced with violence and killing. These strong women raise their voices to show the world that they deserve equality, and refuse to live under the restrictions of the Taliban forever.

The woman in the foreground reads Look Into My World, a poem written by Afghan activist Zieba Shorish-Shamley in honor of the 50th Anniversary of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights. An excerpt follows:

“They made me a prisoner in shackles and in chains
Do you know of my guilt? Do you know of my sins?
These ignorant savages, who cannot see the light
Keep beating me oppressing me, to show their might
They made me invisible, shrouded and non-being
A shadow, no existence, made silent and unseeing
Denied of freedom, confined to my cage
Tell me how to handle my anger and my rage?

They destroyed my country and sold it to invaders
They massacred my people, my sisters and my mother
My children are dying, they murdered my father
They killed all my brothers, without a thought or bother
The reign they impose, dictates hate and fury
It butchers child and elders, no judge, defense or jury

It bans art and artists, punishes poets and writers
It sells drugs and armors, nurtures terrorist fighters
In destitute and misery, I hang to this life
I keep on trying to hold down the strife
Can you give me an answer? Do you know of my choice?
Am I the source of evil? Can you hear my voice?”
– Zieba Shorish-Shamley

Inspired by Piet Mondrian and Ellsworth Kelly, Walls is a phase I piece from Turner Design Studios. This piece incorporates pure color theory, and design elements, showcasing what all great museum quality art is underneath the surface, regardless of what is drawn, rendered, and painted! That is to say, pure geometry. Walls’ pure geometry outlines the form of different planes, wall-like shapes, while giving the viewer a show of multiple rectangles playing their abstract part forming into a whole, just like its sibling piece, Windows! It’s more modern and casual, but powerful, and as far as real art is concerned with genuine appreciation geared towards it, supreme and confident! This piece also shows how far design elements can go in a work of art, while said color theory, touches the individual’s mind and stimulates thoughts of intrigue by being perfectly balanced in a rhythm and represents equilibrium on the color wheel! It’s available in 18″x24″ for alcohol ink and bristol board as well as oil pastel. Also available are oil on canvas paintings in the sizes of 12″x16″, 16″x20″, 18″x24″ 24″x30″, 24″x36″, 30″x40″, and 36″x48″. It’s also available in any color the English building would like! I’d love to work one on one with you.

I’m happy to give a discount on the larger pieces if one is purchased. Individual prices for each oil on canvas are: $500 for a 9″x12″, $550 for a 12″x16″, $800 for a 16″x20″, $1,150 for an 18″x24″, $1,650 for a 24″x30″, $2,150 for a 24″x36″, $3,150 for a 30″x40″, and $4,150 for a 36″x48″. The prices for an alcohol ink rendering and oil pastel rendering in 18″x24″ is $900.00. Look at Ellsworth Kelly’s Red Blue and Yellow to get a great idea where the inspiration came from, along with Piet Mondrian’s general compositions on google (anything with Red, blue, and yellow)! Inspired by Piet Mondrian and Ellsworth Kelly, Windows is a phase I piece from Turner Design Studios. This piece incorporates pure color theory, and design elements, showcasing what all great museum quality art is underneath the surface, regardless of what is drawn, rendered, or painted! That is to say, pure geometry. Windows’ pure geometry outlines the form of different window-like shapes and gives the viewer a brief, but powerful and deep glimpse of how far the design systems can go in a work of art, while said color theory, touches the individual’s mind and stimulates thoughts of intrigue, attraction, and desire! It’s also available in any colors the English building would like! I’d love to work one on one with you.

I’m happy to give a discount on the larger pieces if one is purchased. Individual prices for each oil on canvas are: $500 for a 9″x12″, $650 for a 12″x16″, $900 for a 16″x20″, $1,250 for an 18″x24″, $1,750 for a 24″x30″, $2,250 for a 24″x36″, $3,250 for a 30″x40″, and $4,250 for a 36″x48″.
