Creating a Scholarship Fund

Now more than ever, a college education is crucial to success in life. Yet many young people don’t have the resources required to earn one even as tuition continues to increase.

With more than 100 scholarship funds under management, CICF offers critical help. With awards ranging from $500 to full tuition, our scholarships help countless young people overcome the obstacles that stand between them and future academic and financial success.

CICF works with donors to create renewable scholarships of at least $1,000 per year, ensuring that support is available through degree attainment. We administer everything, from creating and distributing applications to the disbursement of funds.

We are proud to present this first-ever annual report on our collaborative’s scholarship activity, including from our collaborative’s main entities: Central Indiana Community Foundation, Indianapolis Foundation, Hamilton County Community Foundation, and Women’s Fund of Central Indiana. This report includes critical data such as total scholarship money awarded, impacted student populations, schools attended, and more.
But this report goes beyond data. We are offering what we hope are valuable perspectives on the ever-changing world of post-secondary education and its associated costs, especially as it impacts young people and families in Central Indiana. That includes:

  • An argument for added post-secondary pathways, including two-year associate’s degrees and Vocational, Trade and Technical programs (known as VO-TECH, also called CTE, or Career & Technical Education).
  • A real-dollar examination of the way costs have evolved for students
  • Testimonials from scholarship winners and members of our community
  • Expert advice on how to make the most of your fundholder experience
