Grants improve quality of life for women, girls in Central Indiana
Women’s Fund of Central Indiana, a special interest fund of Central Indiana Community Foundation (CICF), has awarded $215,591 to 15 not-for-profit organizations that are making our community’s women and girls stronger, healthier and more self-sufficient through programs that address domestic abuse, the gender pay gap, immigration, reproductive healthcare and more.
“Women’s Fund is using the power of our grant making to help women and girls move forward on the path to economic security and prosperity,”
–Jennifer Pope Baker, executive director of Women’s Fund.
The list of Women’s Fund grant recipients includes:
The Julian Center. A grant of $25,000 will support the clinic’s operating budget and its life-saving and transformative crisis intervention and empowerment programs that help ensure domestic violence survivors have a safe and meaningful future.
Indiana Institute for Working Families. The Institute will use its $25,000 grant to fund original research and advocacy surrounding Indiana’s gender pay gap—a major contributor to the economic inequality experienced by Hoosier women.
Exodus Refugee Immigration. The organization received $20,000 for its Women’s Self-Sufficiency Program that provides critical barrier-busting services to vulnerable refugee women, ages 15 to 22, including mentoring, education and leadership training.
Trinity Women’s Clinic. The clinic provides free quality physical and mental healthcare, and connections to community resources. A $15,000 grant will help the clinic provide pap smears, pregnancy exams, mammogram referrals and other vital services.
Women’s Fund awards grants annually to organizations and programs that address the challenges and barriers women face. Grants this year fell into four categories, identified as areas of high need for women, based on research: economic empowerment, health, self-development and domestic violence.
