The Indianapolis Foundation, an affiliate of Central Indiana Community Foundation, approved 21 grants totaling $1.36 million. These competitive grants were approved by the board of directors on May 15 and included $835,500 in support from The Indianapolis Foundation Library Fund to three library initiatives.
Competitive grants address a range of services and opportunities. A few grantees include:
- Indianapolis Interfaith Hospitality Network ($20,000)—the grant will fund technology upgrades and volunteer training for a day center that offers homeless clients access to computers for employment and permanent housing searches.
- Fairbanks Hospital Inc. (15,000)— funding will help the hospital increase access to the Supported Living Program to help people move from addiction treatment to recovery and eventually, independent living.
- Eskenazi Health Foundation ($35,000)—this grant supports paid internships for students with physical or sensory disabilities to help them build skills, resumes and confidence. At least 70 percent of interns will achieve full-time employment or enroll in graduate school upon completing the program.
- Butler University ($20,000)—Support will fund the Butler Community Arts School outreach programs for youth, ages 5-17. Participants are paired with Jordan College of Fine Arts Education students that serve as teaching fellows.
