Additional $10,000 allocation to three local agencies by student-advisory council
Legacy Fund of Hamilton County, an affiliate of the Central Indiana Community Foundation, awarded a total of $90,500 in grants upon Legacy Fund’s Board of Directors’ approval at its May 17, 2016 meeting.
Grants were allocated to 11 not-for-profit organizations that share Legacy Fund’s goal to transform and improve Hamilton County for its residents. The LINK Advisory Council, a youth-based philanthropic council created by Legacy Fund in 2002, also awarded $10,025 to three not-for-profits, including support for a public art project celebrating the state’s bicentennial anniversary.
“Awarding grants to influential not-for-profit organizations is a significant part of transforming our community, but it also involves cultivating the next generation of philanthropists. The LINK Advisory Council experiences first-hand the impact of strategic grantmaking. It’s an experience that will follow them into adulthood.”
-Mike Daugherty, Board Chair of Legacy Fund and Vice President and Wealth Advisor of First Merchants Private Wealth Advisors
All grants are made possible by Legacy Fund’s Endowment For Hamilton County, an unrestricted fund created 25 years ago by donors interested in continuously addressing needs in Hamilton County. Supplemental funding was provided by The Sheridan Fund and The City of Noblesville Fund, which awarded city-specific grants that may be leveraged with grants from Legacy Fund’s unrestricted endowment.
